Nestled within the historic and scenic Shenandoah Valley between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny mountains, Rockbridge is a county in the Commonwealth of Virginia that contains the independent cities of Lexington and Buena Vista. The county is well positioned along the intersection of I-81 and I-64, which provides excellent access to multiple major US markets. Additionally, the county is adjacent to 3 of Virginia’s top 10 MSA’s, including the Roanoke, Charlottesville, and Staunton-Waynesboro MSA’s.

Due to its excellent location and access to major US thoroughfares, seaports and airports in Virginia, Rockbridge has a diversified economy with strong recession resilient industries including agriculture, healthcare, services (educational, financial, and government), and manufacturing.

The independent city of Lexington is an important educational, retail, commercial and government center, and the city of Buena Vista serves as the industrial and manufacturing nucleus of the area. Moreover, within the borders of the county, three universities can be found, two of which (Washington & Lee University & Virginia Military Institute) are nationally ranked “Best Colleges for Your Money in 2019.”

Named after one of its most famous natural attractions, the Natural Bridge, Rockbridge is also a beautiful county that contains over 58,000 acres of national forest, providing multiple tourist attractions that include natural landmarks, national parks, and a plethora of outdoor recreational activities. The neighboring city of Staunton is the birthplace of President Woodrow Wilson and was named one of “America’s Favorite Mountain Towns.”

The city is home to the world’s only re-creation of Shakespeare’s indoor theaters and is rich with amazing historic architecture, great restaurants, a vibrant arts scene, and many other cultural and historical attractions. All in all, Rockbridge offers a high quality of life, diverse economy, and prime geographical location to its residents and visitors.
